Promoting Social Justice and Peace in Society: A Collective Responsibility

Abstract

In an ideal world, social justice and peace prevail in every society that ensure equality, fairness, and harmony for all individuals. Social justice is the fairness and equality of resources, opportunities, and rights in society regardless of a person's background, race, gender, or economic status. However, the reality is that Pakistani community is facing various forms of social injustice and conflict. Today, Pakistan is on the verge of collapse and there is a feeling among ordinary Pakistanis that they will continue to suffer with injustice. This article explores the importance of social justice and peace and highlights some key strategies, with reference to Islam, for fostering them in Pakistan. It explores that the justice commanded by Allah Almighty covers everything, from justice to the government, from justice to the witness, family, spouse and everyone else, even enemies and foes. Promoting social justice and peace requires a collective effort from individuals, communities, organizations, and the Pakistani government.
