Abstract

No doubt poetry is considered Diwan of Arabs (record of Arab society). As it reflects their civilization, culture, history and daily routine. Likewise, poetry, especially the poetry of the eras that you cite in defining the meaning of Holy Qur’an and Hadith, has a prestigious and honorable place among scholars and linguists in proving the different meanings. Therefore, we see them cite poetry in their writings, and Diwan al-Hamasa by Abu Tammam al-Ta’i is one of the most important sources in the Arabic language in proving the linguistic studies of semantics, derivation, morphology, grammar, rhetoric, propositions, etc. Therefore, scholars took it as their duty to serve this book by writing explanations and commentaries on it in their footnotes. Among them is the well-versed scholar of India, famous for the sheikh of literature and jurisprudence, as he has footnotes to books on language, literature and jurisprudence. Among them is his commentary on Diwan al-Hamasa, which is accepted in India, Pakistan, Bengla Desh and Afghanistan by scholars and researchers. This footnote has the significance of his unique approach and full understanding of the origin of the book. This article will shed light on the life of Sheikh Aizaz Ali and his methodology that he chose in his footnotes. It will also shed some light on his significant features. It will also mention the most important results and suggestions for us at the end, with the will of Allah.
