Abstract

The Companions, May Allah be pleased with them, were the educated people who acquired knowledge from the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him). He was fully aware of the reason for the revelation of the Holy Quran and its wisdom and its prohibitions. They established institutions to teach the Holy Quran during the Prophet Hood and thereafter. A large group of followers gained the understanding of the Qur'an from him.

In this way, a large group of people who knew the interpretation of the Qur'an was prepared, whose Tafsir was called Tafsir Manqul. Imam Qatadah bin Diamah is also one of the Tabieen commentators who are the companions and students of the Tabieen. His exegetical sayings are present in all the basic interpretations and it is necessary for an exegete to be aware of these sayings.
