Abstract

Seerah Writing, as an important branch of Muslim historiography has been the center of study, research and attention of Muslim and non-Muslim historians. After the success in the struggle to achieve Pakistan, for the establishment of an Islamic society, the implementation of the Islamic Sharia and the promotion of justice and fairness, it was necessary that Islamic scholars should make Seerah of the Holy Prophet r the center of their academic and practical activities. This is the reason that after the establishment of Pakistan, with the increase in the study of Seerah of the Holy Prophet, the scope of Seerah Writing became wider. The Seerah of the Holy Prophet was studied in the context of new situations and new problems and in the light of modern sciences, due to which new trends in Seerah Writing also came out.

After the establishment of Pakistan, the trend of objectivity in Seerah writing is seen to be dominant, moreover, the trend of thinking about different aspects of the Seerah of the Holy Prophet r was also established. Special attention was paid to the authenticity of Seerah Writings.

In 1977, for the first time, Seerah Writing was encouraged at the governmental level and several measures were taken for the promotion and publication of Seerah Writing. The establishment of “National Rehmatul-lil-Alameen wa Khatam-ul-Nabiin Authority Pakistan” is also an important step in this regard taken by the Government of Pakistan.

In this article, it is intended to review the development of Seerah Writing in Pakistan since the establishment of Pakistan to date.
