Abstract

Praise be to Allah, and prayer be upon the holiest Prophet and messenger of Allah.

This is a research article entitled as the Saleek bin Salikah as a poet of Pre – Islamic period.

Arabic literature has its two major parts poetry and prose. It is not just a sketch of Arabic alphabets or a combination of words but it has a great picture of society shows the social and political circumstances of different eras in the form of expressions and verses which has immense impact to its readers. The string of Arabic literature links to the era which is before Islam and it is known as pre-Islamic period or Al-Asr Al-Jahili. 

Arabic literature in the pre – Islamic period develop with the passage of time and the names of noted poets also emerged in this era.

Saleek bin Salikah is also one of the poets who left behind him a beautiful anthology of poetry. He belongs to a poetic family as his mother was also a poet who wrote a poem when she was informed the death of her son Saleek also belongs to a group of poets named Saaleek in the pre – Islamic poetry.

The article deals with the literary work Saleek and shows the themes and of his poetry related to tribal community of that era.
